Inca Gold Website Gets a Facelift and Generates New Orders
When Rees Whitaker of Inca Gold initially called DH Communications, he was looking for help with search engine optimization. His site was ranking well for a number of keywords, but he didn’t understand why or how.
After analyzing the site and talking with Whitaker, DH recommended a complete site redesign. Although the IncaGold line is well-respected in the industry – and used by many well-known companies – the site did not communicate this fact.
The site looked old and tired, included broken links, and was inconsistent in its message across the various industries Whitaker served. Whitaker also struggled with whether he should include an online order form or have people call to place an order. He understood an online form would benefit his customers but he didn’t know how to account for shipping costs of the larger bulk items.
Working with Sonora DesignWorks, a Web and graphic design firm located in Amesbury, MA, DH Communications completely rewrote the entire site. In addition, DH recommended that Whitaker include a client list on his site – and was pleasantly surprised when Whitaker sent over a list of over 100 names. Based on Whitaker’s feedback, DH also developed copy for new pages for industries Whitaker wanted to target. DH also completely optimized the new site.
After much wrangling, Whitaker decided to include an “hybrid” online order form. The form makes it easy to place online orders; however, it also lets Whitaker call each customer with the final cost once he has determined weight and shipping costs.
Results: The site continues to rank well in the search engines and delivered over 50 new customers for Inca Gold in 2009 — despite the economic downturn. In addition, Inca Gold closed its largest order to date in 2010 with the customer finding Inca Gold via search.
