I'm sometimes asked, "How do you write an effective brochure?"
My answer is, "It depends."
Sure, brochures and other collateral need to follow certain guidelines in order to get results, but much also depends on your audience, their needs, and what they want to hear. (The answer is really easy: Just answer the question, "What's in it for me?")

I can either write "from scratch" -- meaning, I can develop a piece that doesn't already exist -- or edit an existing document. (My favorite type of project is taking something written by a scientist or engineer and making it "reader-friendly" without resorting to "slash and burn" editing techniques -- thus saving delicate egos.)
