As you know, there's a lot of bad marketing out there. I don't want to add to it. When you initially call or email me with a question such as, “How much do you charge to write an e-newsletter?” I’m not going to immediately give you a quote.
Instead, I’m going to “pop the hood” by asking you lots of questions about why you’re thinking about doing an e-newsletter such as:- What problem are you trying to address?
- Do you have a newsletter already? How is it going for you?
- Why are you looking for someone to help you with it?
- Do you have data – i.e. open and click-through rates, new subscribers, bounce rates, etc?
- If you could make changes, what would you change?
- What’s your ultimate outcome for this newsletter?
- How do you measure success?
I don’t give proposals immediately because I’ve found that companies often need more than just “copywriting.” Instead, they need a B2B marketing communications (marcom) expert who understands marketing and sales, the Web, and the business-to-business marketplace – in other words, someone who can help achieve real results with a combination of proven marketing strategy and implementation.

My goal is to see the “big picture” concerning your business and your project. Before I begin any work, I get to know you, your company, and your product or service by talking with you (via phone or face-to-face) to discuss your marketing goals and objectives.
I research your industry in order to understand issues and trends and read your Website and your competitors' sites. I also go through any data you have in order to determine how best to proceed with your project.
This prep work ensures that the resulting strategy and project work I provide meets your objectives – and gets you results. It also means you get more than you would from a “freelancer” hopping from job to job. You get a marketing partner who is well-prepared to help you succeed – and who wants to work with you over the long-haul.
