David Scott Explains How Small Businesses Can Use Video to Increase Sales
David Meerman Scott, author of the book, The New Rules of Marketing and PR, is featured in today’s Wall Street Journal.
The Journal also did a videotaped interview where David gives some great tips for small businesses who want to produce their own videos for YouTube:
Don’t be afraid to do it yourself — If you own a video camera, you can shoot your own video (or maybe hire a college kid to do it for you).
Keep videos short — Videos should be 30 seconds to two minutes, max.
Try different things – Make 10 or 20 videos to see which format get “eyeballs.”
Great tips, David, and wonderful video!

Dianna,
Nice tip on how to utilize video ads inexpensively. Personally, I believe video (for some industries) will be the most effective way to advertise on the Web in the future, or at least the perfect compliment to ‘juice up’ other methods of advertising such as PPC. It appears Google too is banking on video ads with their ‘YouTube Video Units’ they’re promoting which I suppose is still in beta. As a webmaster of an industrial supply website I’m considering video ads to showcase our offers on industrial products and demonstrate the latest machine and equipment technologies.
