iGoogle Interface is Very Clumsy Compared to MyYahoo
I’ve been using MyYahoo for a couple of years now — mostly as a blog reader. It’s easy to use, and I like how you can click back and forth between Yahoo mail and MyYahoo.
I just set up a Google gmail account and an iGoogle homepage for one of my clients so that we could both view the information together. What a frustrating experience.
On the plus side, iGoogle has all kinds of fun widgets you can add to your iGoogle homepage.
On the minus side, it took me forever to figure out how to add blog feeds — and once I did add them, they weren’t lined up nice and neat the way they are with MyYahoo.
On the plus side, one click takes me to Gmail.
On the minus side, I could not for the life of me figure out how to get back to the iGoogle page.
On the plus side, you can customize your newsfeeds via keywords — now I have a tab that shows all news stories for a particular keyword.
On the minus side, server traffic must be high, because it took forever for pages to load.
I generally love Google. I use their toolbar, Google analytics, Google docs, and of course the search engine. But some of their other products need more time in beta — especially Notepad and now iGoogle.
I’ll stick with MyYahoo for my own personal feeds and email.
